Nonetheless, with evolving times, globalization, and the emergence of new social culture, a wide range of subjects are now being offered in the fields of Arts and Humanities.
It must’ve been quite hard to select a stream after your 10th grade, but now choosing a stream for your graduation is probably very overwhelming again. Now that it’s time to choose a course, you probably have to make a career for yourself. Being a student in India with an interest in creative fields isn’t easy. People are always ready to bring you down for taking arts or any course that is something new to them.

Taking up arts and humanities is not a bad idea at all. We made to avoid the course previously because there was a misconception that there’s no bright future for students pursuing careers in arts. The times have changed, technology has developed, and there’s so much more to careers in the arts. People are now showing much more interest in these courses, like filmmaking, journalism, mass media, communication, design, fashion, and many more.
Arts students can opt for Foreign Languages, Fashion Designing, Linguistics, Religious Studies, Theatre, Film Making, Art History, and related fields. Depending on your choice, one can go for courses in Travel and Tourism, Event Management, Mass Communication and Media, Interior Designing, Teaching, Advertising and PR, Hospitality, Sociology, Psychology, Creative Writing, Social Work, Fashion, Photography, Makeup & Beauty.
Most Humanities and Social Science colleges have no entrance exams for Bachelor’s degree courses. Either way, many Law, Mass Communication, Design, and Hospitality institutes offer admission based on marks acquired in entrance exams.
Types of arts degrees
BA in Fashion Designing
Fashion technology is a 4-year degree where you can select your specialization in textile designing, costume designing, and apparel designing. It is a vast industry with various opportunities for students passionate about the fashion industry. It is quite a harsh industry, but it’s pretty fast, it might be challenging to set up a job, but once you make your mark in the field, it is fun and exciting and motivates you to learn further and make a career in it.
BA in Humanities & Social Science
BA is a bachelor’s degree in subjects teaching liberal arts, social sciences, and fine arts. BA is an undergraduate degree, and students need to have completed their 12th from the Arts stream for this degree. Science and Commerce students are eligible to get a BA degree too, so there’s no restriction to this course.
BA in Arts (Fine/Visual/Performing)
BA in Arts is a bachelor’s degree undertaken to study Fine Arts and Performing Arts courses. Students need to have completed their 12th standard from the Arts stream for this course. Science and Commerce students are also eligible to take up a BA in Arts degree.
BA LLB (5-year Integrated Programme)
BA LLB (Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Law) is an integrated course for Law offered at undergraduate standard. Students need to clear Class 12 in any stream with the minimum required percentage to be permitted for the period. The selection criteria for this course for top colleges is considered through CLAT, a competitive exam that should be taken by students who want to pursue a career in Law through a top college. The duration of the BA LLB program in Indian universities and colleges is five years.
Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Tourism
Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Tourism, popularly known as BSc in Hospitality & Travel. To be able to take this course, the students must have cleared 12 or any other equivalent qualification from any stream.
Bachelor of Journalism & Mass Communication (BJMC)
Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication is a three-year-long undergraduate degree course. Students need to clear Class 12 in any stream they prefer to be permitted for the period. The system is suitable for students pursuing careers in the media industry.
Bachelor in Political science
A top choice amongst best courses after the 12th Arts stream in B.A Political Science. It gives you a clear insight into the Indian Administrative system. Candidates aspiring for posts in IAS also take up this course.
