1. New policy to soon to be implemented on opium cultivation
Major Highlights:
- The CBN (Central Bureau of Narcotics) permits and purchase the produced opium.
- The MQY (Minimum Qualifying Yield) policy is used for purchase and tender allocation of opium.
- Opium refers to “Afeem” in Hindi.
2. Pilot Project for Leopards to come up in Rajasthan
Major Highlights:
- 3 sanctuaries will be assigned in the state for leopard habitat conservation.
- Likely to be implanted in Jaisamand, Kumbalgarh Sanctuary and Todgarh Sanctuary surrounded by Aravalli Ranges.
- Forest and Environment Chief Secretary- Nihal Chand Goel will get aids from CAMPA.
3. Chakma community triggers for its rights in Arunachal Pradesh
Major Highlights:
- The community is not given rights by the state as they are not considered native citizens of the country.
- The Chakma Community (Refugee) has immigrated from the Tibet-Myanmar belt in the Indian States.
- The community is at present settled in Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya and West Bengal.
- The community applies in any of the exam from the SC category.
- The community immigrated in Indian in the 1960s.
4. Clean chit given to the new norm of Ujjain Temple by the Supreme Court
Major Highlights:
What was the issue?
- The Jyotirlinga was deteriorating due to the offering of water and sugar mixed in the panchamrut.
Resolution:
- According to new rule only 500ml RO processed water can be offered to the Jyotirlinga.
- Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh is one of the ancient temple).
- For the Bhasma Aarti, the lingum will be fully covered with the dry cloth.
5. Karti Chidambaram Under Investigation by CBI and ED
Major Highlights:
- He is the son of former finance minister “P Chidambaram’
- He has been accused of interfering and influencing the foreign direct investment treating the INX Media for the investment of Rs 305 crore.
- Accusations also put doubt on the former president and investigation is being donned on decisions taking by him.
- He has been Finance Minister from 204-2008 and 2012 to 2014.
6. India won Silver in ISSF World Cup
- Sangram Dahiya won the Silver medal in the ISSF finals.
- ISSF is the International Shooting Sports Federation.
