2. Historic significance of Utakala Divas celebrated on Odisha Day
Major Highlights:
- The date of April 1st every year is celebrated as the Odisha Day which back in April 1, 1936 became a separate province.
- Odisha Day, also known as Utkal Divas and Utkala Dibasa is celebrated in the memory of struggle done to be separated from the Bengal and Bihar.
- In the records of history, Kharavela’s rule is also for laying the foundation for Orissa’s fame as a land of art, architecture and sculpture.
- After getting independence the state’s name was changed from Orissa to Odisha on 24 March, 2011 while the language from Oriya to Odia, on November 9, 2010.
- Odisha Day is also called Orissa Foundation Day and Vishuva Milan.
3. Ashok Gehlot made Congress organization in-charge
Major Highlights:
- Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot is recently appointed as the General Secretary in charge of organization and training at the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
- Offering the position he has been replaced by the veteran Janardhan Dwivedi who was holding the charges since 2007.
- Also, Lalji Desai is appointed as the Chief Organizer of the All India Congress Seva Dal in place of Mahendra Joshi.

4. H-1B visa process begins today

- Triple Olympian and former national hockey player N Mukesh Kumar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award.
