1. DRDO awarded as most informative
Major Highlights:
- The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) have received the Most Informative Pavilion award in the event of 105th Indian Science Congress.
- The award was conferred in India Expo organized as part of ISC being held at Manipur University.
- DRDO showed defence technologies with over 150 exhibits and models from 18 DRDO laboratories.
2. India successfully test fires Brahmos missile
Major Highlights:
- The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test fired by the DRDO.
- BrahMos has a range of around 450 kilometres and is the world’s fastest cruise missile having a speed of Mach 2.8 to Mach 3.
- Besides BrahMos is also the only one of its kind supersonic missile till date which can be fired from land, sea and air.
- BrahMos is a joint venture between India and Russia which uses the Russian technology decided in 2016.
3. India and China defence forces to promote better understanding
Major Highlights:
- In the 11th round of WMCC, India and China have agreed to promote better understanding between their defence forces and discussed ways to improve border management.
- WMCC is the Working Mechanism on Consultation and Coordination.
- WMCC was established in 2012 for maintenance of peace and tranquility in the India-China border areas.

4. Isro to launch GSAT-6A communication satellite
Major Highlights:
- The Indian Space Research Organisation will launch communication satellite GSAT-6A onboard GSLV Mk-II rocket flight.
- This launch will be GSLV’s (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) 12th flight and sixth flight with indigenous cryogenic stage.
- The satellite will provide a platform for developing technologies like unfurlable antenna, handheld ground terminals and network management techniques.
5. Elavenil turns India’s Golden Girl in Air Rifle Junior World Cup
Major Highlights:
- In the Air Rifle Junior World Cup being held in Sydney Elavenil Valarivan gave India a start by winning gold.
- Shreya Agrawal and Zeena Khitta also helped the team to bag gold. In men’s air rifle, Arjun Babuta won the bronze.
- Overall India ended the event being on second spot, winning two gold and one bronze.
