1. President Kovind to inaugurate Global Exhibition on Services

Major Highlights:

  • The Global Exhibition on Services-2018 to be held in Mumbai will be inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.
  • In the event he will also launch 12 champion sectors in services.
  • The exhibition is likely to witness 25 exhibitors and 500 overseas delegates from over 100 countries.

2. Changes in Union Cabinet, ministers shuffled

Major Highlights:

  • In a major cabinet reshuffle in Union cabinet the railway Minister Piyush Goyal has been given additional charge of Finance Ministry till Arun Jaitely recovers.
  • In State for Information and Broadcasting, Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has been assigned as independent charge minister.
  • Smriti Irani is now Minister of Textiles preceded by Santosh Gangwar.
  • S. Ahluwalia has been assigned as Minister of State in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.
3. China launches first India-dedicated investment fund

Major Highlights:

  • The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China has launched China’s first India-dedicated publicly offered investment fund.
  • According to the bank, Indian economy is entering the “golden age of economic take-off”.
  • It is China’s first publicly offered fund for investing in India, state-run Global Times reported.
  • The launch comes after the Informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping at Wuhan for improving the bilateral ties.

4. Sulabh International founder awarded Nikkei Asia Prize

Major Highlights:

  • Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, the founder of Sulabh International has been honoured with the Nikkei Asia Prize in Japan.
  • Dr Pathan founded Sulabh International in 1970.
  • Nikkei Inc of Japan has been presenting the awards since 1996 to honor people in Asia who have made significant contributions in Economic and Business Innovation, Science, Technology and Environment and Culture and Community.
5. Heena wins gold in Hannover shooting meet

Major Highlights:

  • Ace shooter Heena Sidhu won gold medal in the 10 meter air pistol category of the International Shooting competition of Hannover.
  • From other Indian shooters, Shri Nivetha settled for a bronze medal.
